This Vintage Advertising Thermometer is very good looking with its super minimalist design and single arm temperature pointer. It’s in beautiful shape with a slight marbling of the chocolate Bakelite. A nice polish might bring that out a little more.
This Barometer was made for the Longauer Co. with a motto of “Complete Business Service” and their place of business, Milwaukee, Wisconsin” The sole purpose of advertising thermometers was to keep the name and other information about a business in front of a potential customer.
I just love how this one has a raised octagon on a square, with a round dial. The center of the dial has blue concentric circles with a single arm pointer. If the pointer stayed level it was about 70 degrees. Swaying left meant cooler the further to the bottom it pointed and swaying right meant warmer the further to the bottom it pointed. Simple. The backside of the gauge has a convenient place to hang it. Note: Small nick in the back right of the Bakelite.
