Vintage original unique copper sculpture of the Singleton Shrimp Co. vessel “Roving Gambler”. Henry “Shrimp King” Singleton’s name is enshrined atop the vessel. Created by copper sculptor Jenkins circa 1977 in west central Florida.This is a one owner vessel. This ship does appear on national ship building registries as early as 1946. In original condition, undamaged.
The actual vessel was part of Singleton shrimp Co. either early on in Key West circa 1940’s and/or later after the co moved to Tampa, Fl.
Henry “Boots” Singleton was known as the “King of Shrimp” for many decades and was a pioneer of the Gulf shrimp industry in Florida. Lots of history on the subject is available on line.
The sculptor, Jenkins, I believe hails from Homosassa, Fl. and is known also for copper fish sculpture. Info also available on line. Owned since 1978. 33” long by 22” high. A real conversation piece. In excellent condition. Feel free to ask ?. Offers always considered.
